How our playground satifies children who have emotional trauma
Our elements have features that let them vent their anger (Flying fox), buildng up their confidence(Trampoline with basetball board), teaching them how to trust others (maze), teaching them that they cannot be easily hurt (slide with balls), colourful, which are what the emotional trauma children need the most, according to our research and knowledge.
Venting anger, would let them pour their thoughts and feelings out. Building their confidence can let them try new things, picking themselesup from where they fall. Trusting others can be another form of allowing them to pour their problems to others, making them feel better and they need trust to get on with life. Some of them are deeply hurt, telling them that they wont get hurt so easily can allow them to understand that their previous experience do not happen all the time.
From these features, they will feel better, brightening up their mood and changing their thought of life. This will help them largely.

Flying Fox with Punching Bag by the side, flying towards the Tree wallpaper ( Vent Anger)
Trampoline with basketball board connected to it.
- Basketball is connected with a string, the ball would be shot in. ( Boost their confidence)
Slide with balls at the bottom, surrounding it, with a notice mentioning " You would not get hurt so easily"
Hamster wheel
Rocking "chair"
Our playground would actually focus on this few points of emotional trauma.
- No confidencein themselves
- Cannot control their emotions
- Unable to trust others
The main element, relevant to the novel
The main feature (element) of the playground is the flying fox. It depicts the children swinging to "Terabithia" , towards the trees., which is pictured by the tree wallpaper. There is a punching bag there to help them vent their anger, lightening up their mood. Just like how Leslie's and Jesse's mood are lightened up when they visit Terabithia.

Facts about children who have emotional trauma & how to help them
They have no confidence in themselves - Write encouraging words
Normally Sad - Try to add some cheerful images to cheer them up, telling them its all okay
Cannot control their feelings - Counsel them
Scared to express their feelings - Talk to them nicely, telling them that we will help them
Unable to trust others - Try to lead them while blindfolding them, telling them that they can trust us
Confusion - Understand them, then clarify to them
Shocked - Comfort them
Mood swings - Let them say all their bad happenings all at one go, listening to them attentively, but not adding too much comments.
Facts about them are copied from :www.helpguide.org/mental/emotional_psychological_trauma.htm
Current state of playground, how to improve and inspiration from novel
- The first point is that they do not have anything to improve on their feelings. Its just for general children. The playground can actually have some friendly images to cheer them up. This is inspired by Leslie's and Jesse's imagination of Terabithia, their happy place. We shall add fun elements to cheer them up.
- There are only dull or little colours. It can be improved if they have livelier colours. This can cheer them up. This is inspired when Jesse added colourful paints into the river. Therefore, we'll add many colours to our playground.
- The elements do not make them feel that they are good enough . We can set up elements that boost their confidence. This is inspired by Jesse and Leslie imagined defeating the Dark Master. We shall let them know that everything that can be defeated.
- Some of them have dangerous elements, not caring whether they get hurt (again). This can be helped most basically by having soft grounds, this is inspired by the grassy grounds of Terabithia.
- All are plain and normal items, nothing for them to vent their feelings on. We can let them vent their feelings on certain elements, just like the Dark Masters in the novel.
